Quaker Men

Who We Are

NC Quaker Men seeks to involve Quaker men and boys from across all our traditions in activities of fellowship and Christian service in local Friends Meetings, communities, and beyond. Historically, High Point Friends Meeting Quaker Men hosted a Spring Dinner with a speaker where Quaker men from the surrounding area were invited. NC Quaker Men enjoyed a banquet with a speaker and updates on adopted projects at North Carolina Yearly Meeting-Friends United Meeting triennial sessions when held at Guilford College. In recent years, Spring Fling and Fall Dinner meetings with a speaker and updates on projects have been hosted by local meetings across North Carolina to encourage wider participation and getting better acquainted with other Quaker Men and their localities.

Our Focus

  1. To join with Quaker men and boys from across all our traditions in worship, prayer, and fellowship, and sharing from our experience what it means to be Quaker men.

  2. Support and encourage participation in NC Friends Disaster Service which provides assistance to fellow human beings who are victimized by trouble or disaster as resources are available.

  3. Adopt an annual list of projects for financial assistance to ongoing programs or provide “seed money” for new projects such as:

    • Clean water and girls education in Kenya, Africa

    • Quaker Lake Camp building repairs

    • Choctaw Friends Center (McIntosh, Alabama) -Formerly MOWA

    • Jamaica Yearly Meeting leadership training, building projects and repairs

    • Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre - facility repairs

    • Border Friends Missions, Matamoros, Mexico (Children’s Christmas)

    • Evangelical outreach to our local universities and schools through Friends Campus Ministry

    • Perhaps our largest project involved raising funds within six months for Quaker Lake Camp to purchase a new John Deere Tractor with a front-end loader and mower that were delivered 2/6/2015!

  4. Participate in Quaker Men International’s activities which conducts a triennial conference jointly with USFWI (United Society of Friends Women International). Next conference: July 12-17, 2020 in Kenya. The theme of the conference is “Go and Make Disciples of All Nations” from Matthew 28:19-20.

  5. Maintain communication with all Quaker Men groups of the various yearly meetings, associations, and independent meetings in and near North Carolina about our events and projects.
